Everyone says they need to “get in shape” or that they need to “work out”, but most have no idea what that even means or what they should do. As I explained in this post, a man’s primary training goal, at least at the beginning, should be to get strong. Strength is one of the masculine virtues and lays a foundation for being able to carry out your role as a man. My video below will help you begin your journey.[Read more…] about Video: Training to Get Strong – Deadlifts
In 1962, as the Vietnam War raged on, President John F. Kennedy officially created a new group of military special operators who could perform unconventional war operations in the waters that flowed through Vietnam. This group was to be the naval counterpart to the Army’s Green Berets. They were named the Navy SEALs, a name borne out of their ability to conduct SEa, Air, and Land operations.
Since that time, there are few groups of people in the world more admired, respected, or esteemed than the SEALs. In my estimation, there’s likely no group in the world that deserves it more. At a time when we idolize musicians, athletes, and celebrities well beyond the level of value that they contribute to society, it’s refreshing to know that almost everyone recognizes that SEALs are badasses. While SEALs probably get the lion’s share of attention and recognition, the other special operations teams (Army Rangers, Delta Force, Green Berets, etc.) are equally worthy of our respect. On January 1, 2018, I’m releasing a new eBook, The Man Strong Blueprint: A Beginner’s Guide to the Body You Need, that gives men everything they need to create the body capable of living the man’s life. So before we can pick our tools, we have to pick our goals. [Read more…] about The Man Strong Blueprint: An Excerpt
Men are discontent. They range from restless to depressed to angry to suicidal. If men want a better life experience, it’s time to start living in accordance with their nature as men, to embrace and develop their masculinity.
Why are men often stuck in mediocre lives? In his insightful book, Poke the Box, Seth Godin points out that “there’s never a problem getting a posse together to fix the broken. The challenge is to find the energy and will to improve the mediocre.” While Seth was talking about fixing business problems, the same principle applies throughout our lives. When something is really broken, people often have sufficient incentive to make the changes necessary to fix it. But when something isn’t broken, it’s just “blah”, “meh”, average, or mediocre, many of us aren’t willing to invest the energy to change it. If we’re going to get where we want to go in life, that needs to change.
